HEAT WELDABLE (DRYSUIT SEALS)
To further enhance our drysuit seal range, the team at Precision Dippings developed a patented heat weldable seal to aid in the manufacture of drysuits. These drysuit seals can be taped to the suit without adhesive.
This type of drysuit seal features a PU coating at the drysuit end, enabling heat sealing tapes to be adhered to the seal and suit directly without the need for extra gluing.
The seals may be sewn through the coating to the fabric, with the sew holes and seal edges then covered by a heat seal tape, as shown.
We recommend the use of PU-based tape, which works on a heat welding machine – experimentation with different temperatures is advisable. Our customers have told us that high temperatures are necessary when taping to the seals.
We also recommend using a a fabric backed tape like the T2000, so that higher temperatures can be achieved. Details of stockists of T2000 tapes are available on request.
